Beirut, Lebanon – Lebanese President Joseph Aoun affirmed that there is no truth to the rumors circulating about any intention to dismiss the army commander or the heads of the security agencies.

He emphasized their essential role in maintaining security and upholding state sovereignty.

He also confirmed that the framework agreement safeguards Lebanon’s rights and does not include any concessions.

Hold on to the security leadership

The Lebanese president stated that rumors circulating about a desire

to dismiss the army commander and the heads of the security agencies are baseless.

He emphasized that these leaders play a pivotal role in maintaining security and stability,

adding that they strengthen the state’s sovereignty over all its territory.

He further stated that the military and security institutions represent

a fundamental pillar in confronting the security challenges facing Lebanon.

The framework agreement preserves Lebanon’s rights

The Lebanese president explained that the framework agreement was formulated in

a way that safeguards Lebanon’s rights on both the judicial and practical levels.

He emphasized that the Lebanese state did not surrender or relinquish any of its rights during the negotiations.

He noted that the agreement came after a thorough examination of all available options.

However, it was reached while taking into account the national interest and preserving Lebanese sovereignty.

The option of negotiation after the failure of wars

The Lebanese president emphasized that Lebanon is a sovereign state that negotiates on its own behalf.

He explained that resorting to negotiation was the “best possible option”

after the failure of war to achieve stability or resolve crises.

He added that the Lebanese state will continue to work to protect

its national interests through political and diplomatic means.

Simultaneously, it will support its security and military institutions to consolidate security and sovereignty.
