Washington, DC – The US State Department described the framework agreement between Lebanon and Israel as a “historic agreement,” emphasizing that it represents a significant step toward strengthening stability in the region.

It also affirmed that the agreement paves the way for achieving lasting peace between the two sides.

Washington welcomes the agreement

The US State Department, in statements to Al Arabiya, affirmed that the framework

agreement reflects significant progress in diplomatic efforts aimed at reducing tensions on the Lebanese-Israeli border.

It also noted that the United States supported the negotiation process leading to this understanding.

paving the way for a lasting peace

The Foreign Ministry explained that the agreement would pave the way for lasting peace.

This would be achieved by providing a framework for addressing outstanding

security issues and enhancing stability on both sides of the border.

This, in turn, would help reduce the likelihood of future military escalation.

Continued US support

The US State Department reaffirmed its continued support for diplomatic efforts

aimed at solidifying the agreement and implementing its provisions.

It emphasized the importance of all parties adhering to the agreement,

which will enhance regional security and stability and bolster the prospects for reaching lasting settlements to outstanding issues.
