Moscow, Russia – The head of Russia’s Rosatom nuclear corporation announced that the company plans to return its employees to Iran’s Bushehr nuclear power plant in the coming weeks,
provided the security situation in the region remains stable.
This move signals a gradual return to work at the facility after a period of tension.
Return conditional on stability of the situation
The head of Rosatom explained that the decision to redeploy staff is contingent
upon the continued stability of the security situation.
He also noted that the company is continuously monitoring developments
on the ground before taking this step, in order to ensure the safety of project personnel.
The Russian official did not specify a precise date for the return of the technical teams.
However, he confirmed that it could occur within the coming weeks if the situation does not escalate further.
Bushehr power plant and its importance
The Bushehr nuclear power plant is Iran’s most prominent civilian nuclear project. Russia’s Rosatom plays a key role in its operation and provides technical support as part of nuclear cooperation between Moscow and Tehran.
Recently, the plant has implemented precautionary measures that have affected the presence of some personnel. This comes against the backdrop of security developments in the region.
Following regional developments
The announcement comes as the parties involved continue to monitor the security situation in the region following recent tensions. There is also anticipation regarding the impact of improved stability on the resumption of vital projects, including nuclear cooperation between Russia and Iran.
