Sanaa, Yemen – Former Yemeni Foreign Minister Abu Bakr Al-Qirbi affirmed that the failure of the political path in Yemen over the past years cannot be blamed on a single party.
Al-Qirbi stressed that various political and national forces collectively bear responsibility for the failures the country has witnessed and the crises that followed.
He explained that the Yemeni political experience has faced accumulated challenges that hindered the achievement of the required national consensus and weakened the state’s institutions.
Objective Reading of Political History
Al-Qirbi noted that the period following 2006 witnessed very complex political developments that increased the intensity of disagreements between national components.
These developments weakened the chances of reaching sustainable political solutions to existing crises, which requires an objective reading of this historical experience.
He stressed the necessity of drawing lessons from past mistakes, away from mutual accusations, to ensure that the scenarios that harmed the country are not repeated.
National Project to Restore Trust
Al-Qirbi believes that the success of any future political process depends primarily on the existence of a real and sincere will for dialogue among all Yemeni parties.
He called for the formulation of a comprehensive national project that places Yemen’s interest above narrow partisan and political considerations, and seeks to rebuild trust between society and political forces.
Such a project would support efforts to achieve comprehensive stability and work seriously to restore state institutions that were damaged during years of conflict.
Political Solution is the Only Option
Al-Qirbi also stressed the importance of supporting current regional and international efforts, confirming that a political solution remains the most realistic option to end years of conflict.
This solution is the only way to achieve the aspirations of the Yemeni people for security, development, and permanent stability, and to overcome the repercussions of the current crisis.
