Tel Aviv, Israel – The Israeli army announced that four of its soldiers were injured when a drone, which it said belonged to Hezbollah, exploded near them in southern Lebanon.
Escalation on the southern border
The army explained in a statement that the explosion occurred during military activity in the border area.
It also indicated that the injured soldiers were transferred for treatment, without disclosing further details about their condition.
The incident comes amid ongoing tensions on the border between Israel and Lebanon. Exchanges of fire, drone attacks,
and missile strikes have been frequent in the area for months.
Initial investigations into the circumstances of the explosion
According to the army statement, the competent military authorities opened
a preliminary investigation to determine the circumstances of the drone explosion.
Investigations will also examine whether it directly targeted the force or exploded while flying near it.
The southern border of Lebanon is witnessing a state of escalating security tension,
with the continued exchange of accusations between the Israeli army
and Hezbollah regarding military operations and attacks across the border line.
