Washington, DC – US Vice President J.D. Vance affirmed that the memorandum of understanding signed between the United States and Iran represents a sound agreement that serves American interests.

He further emphasized that it includes guarantees related to regional security and freedom of navigation.

Additionally, it prevents Tehran from acquiring nuclear weapons.

Ensuring the security of navigation and the flow of oil

In an interview with CBS, Vance stated that the US administration is monitoring what he described

as “misrepresentations and misinformation” circulating regarding the terms of the memorandum of understanding.

He emphasized that the agreement achieves important strategic objectives for the United States and its allies.

The US Vice President explained that the agreement will contribute to the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz to normal maritime traffic.

He also noted that markets have already begun to see the return of oil flows through this vital waterway,

which is one of the world’s most important energy arteries.

He added that the stability of navigation in the region is a fundamental element of the agreement,

as it has a direct impact on global energy security and the stability of international markets.

Preventing Iran from acquiring a nuclear weapon

Vance emphasized that the memorandum of understanding includes mechanisms and guarantees to prevent Iran from acquiring a nuclear weapon.

He considered this provision one of the most significant gains achieved by Washington during the negotiations.

He noted that the agreement aims to address security issues related to the Iranian nuclear program through a negotiated process.

It seeks to achieve stability and prevent further escalation in the region.

The US Vice President revealed that Pakistan requested that the full text of the memorandum of understanding not be published at this time.

He explained that this was part of the arrangements related to managing the current phase of the agreement.

Vance affirmed that the US administration views the memorandum of understanding as an important step toward enhancing regional stability.

He also expressed his confidence that its implementation will contribute

to reducing tensions and achieving positive results on both the security and economic levels.
