Abu Dhabi, UAE – The United Arab Emirates stressed the importance of giving priority to dialogue, diplomacy and adherence to international law in order to enhance security and stability in the region.

This came in light of the announcement of reaching an agreement on the memorandum of understanding between the United States and Iran.

The UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs stressed the importance of full compliance with the terms of the agreement, in order to ensure an immediate and comprehensive cessation of aggressive actions in the region. Respect for the sovereignty of states and the principles of good neighborliness, strict adherence to international law, protection of sea lanes and freedom of international navigation. Including ensuring smooth movement in the Strait of Hormuz, thus enhancing security, stability, and economic prosperity at the regional and international levels.

The State Department praised the diplomatic efforts led by US President Donald Trump that contributed to reaching this understanding. With the contribution of the countries and parties concerned in creating the appropriate conditions for reaching this agreement.

The Ministry called for the importance of continuing to move forward with the negotiations, allowing us to build on this progress and achieve sustainable results. Stressing that the UAE supports all efforts aimed at enhancing security and stability, and consolidating the approach of dialogue and diplomacy in addressing regional and international crises. In a way that serves the interests of the peoples of the region and enhances opportunities for development and prosperity.
