Washington, DC – The US State Department confirmed that Hezbollah remains an obstacle to reaching an agreement between Israel and Lebanon. It indicated that a “fair” agreement is on the table.

This agreement would guarantee Lebanon’s sovereignty and help resolve outstanding issues between the two sides.

An agreement is proposed to reach a settlement

The US State Department told Al Arabiya that there is still an opportunity

to reach an understanding that serves the interests of all parties involved.

It emphasized that the proposed agreement aims to enhance stability and ensure respect for Lebanese sovereignty over all its territory.

The State Department added that Washington believes a lasting agreement would reduce recurring tensions along the border.

Furthermore, such an agreement would lay a more stable foundation for relations between Lebanon and Israel.

A call to end the cycle of violence

The US State Department stressed the need to end the ongoing cycle of violence between Israel and Lebanon.

It emphasized that the escalating tensions do not serve regional stability

and increase security and humanitarian risks for both sides.

The State Department explained that the United States continues its diplomatic efforts with various stakeholders.

These efforts aim to reduce tensions and prevent a wider confrontation in the region.

Emphasizing the sovereignty of the Lebanese state

The US State Department affirmed that Washington wants Lebanon to fully regain its sovereignty.

It emphasized the importance of strengthening Lebanese state institutions

and enabling them to exercise their authority throughout all Lebanese territory.

These statements come at a time of escalating security tensions in the region.

Simultaneously, international and regional efforts are underway to reach arrangements

that guarantee stability and prevent renewed clashes on the Lebanese-Israeli border.
