Moscow, Russia – Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova denied reports and rumors circulating about the resignation or imminent departure of Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov. She asserted that these reports are unfounded and fall under the category of disinformation being spread by some media outlets and social media platforms.

Zakharova stated that Lavrov continues to perform his duties normally and is involved in managing various Russian diplomatic files. She also noted that the ministry has not issued any statements regarding changes in the Foreign Ministry’s leadership or any adjustments related to the ministerial position.

She added that the Russian minister is continuing his intensive diplomatic activity through meetings and contacts with his counterparts in a number of countries. She also stated that he is following international and regional issues that constitute a priority for Russian foreign policy at this time.

The official denial came after widespread speculation and media reports about the possibility of changes within Russian state institutions. This led to a wave of questions about the future of one of the most prominent political and diplomatic figures in Russia in recent decades.

Sergey Lavrov is one of the most prominent figures in Russian politics. He has served as foreign minister since 2004 and has played a key role in managing numerous complex international issues, including relations with the West, regional crises, and matters related to international security.

Observers believe the Foreign Ministry’s denial is intended to quell growing speculation about the future of Russia’s diplomatic leadership. This is particularly relevant given the sensitive international climate and the geopolitical challenges facing Moscow, which necessitate continued coordination and management of foreign affairs at the highest levels.
