Tehran, Iran – Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi discussed the latest developments in West Asia during a telephone call with Belgian Foreign Minister Maxime Prévost.
They also discussed ways to activate diplomatic channels aimed at preventing an escalation of tensions and ending the ongoing conflict.
In addition, the call addressed strengthening international efforts to contain the crisis.
Supporting the diplomatic track
During the call, Araqchi emphasized the importance of continued dialogue
between regional and international parties to prevent further escalation.
He stressed that political and diplomatic solutions remain the most effective option
for ensuring stability in the region, especially given the escalating tensions in several arenas.
The Iranian minister emphasized the need for the international community to act more effectively in support of negotiation processes.
He also called for efforts to create a political environment conducive to ending existing conflicts, thereby achieving regional security and stability.
He further noted that the continuation of military tensions negatively impacts the security of the region and the world.
Therefore, he called for broader coordination between European and West Asian countries to support peaceful solutions.
Belgium’s position on the developments
For his part, the Belgian Foreign Minister expressed his country’s interest in following developments in the region.
He affirmed Brussels’ support for diplomatic efforts aimed at de-escalation and stressed the need to prevent the conflict from spreading.
He explained that the European Union attaches great importance to the stability of West Asia.
Furthermore, the EU encourages continued dialogue among the parties involved to reach sustainable political solutions.
During the call, both sides agreed on the importance of maintaining diplomatic communication in the coming period.
They also emphasized the need to intensify international and regional efforts to prevent further security deterioration,
thereby ensuring the stability of the region and protecting shared interests.
