Tehran, Iran – Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) reiterated that there will be no changes to the mechanism for managing maritime traffic in the Strait of Hormuz. The IRGC emphasized that the existing rules will remain unchanged. This comes in one of the world’s most sensitive waterways.
In an official statement, the IRGC explained that the movement of ships and oil tankers within the strait is governed by specific routes that must be adhered to. This is to ensure safe passage and prevent any maritime incidents. The IRGC also stressed that any violation of these routes will be considered unacceptable.
This statement comes amid intermittent tensions in the region. International concerns persist regarding the impact of any escalation on global energy supplies passing through the Strait of Hormuz.
The Iranian leadership has also emphasized that the security of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz is a priority. However, it simultaneously links regional stability to respect for the rules it considers part of its regulatory sovereignty over this vital waterway.
