Kuwait – Kuwaiti authorities announced the resumption of operations at Kuwait International Airport starting Sunday. This follows a 55-day suspension due to security and regional circumstances that have affected the region since the end of February.
Kuwait Airways revealed an operational plan that includes 35 commercial flights scheduled throughout the week.
International flight schedule and destinations
Captain Abdulwahab Al-Shatti, the company’s acting CEO, confirmed that the first phase of
resuming operations will include 13 key destinations departing from Terminal 4 (T4).
The company will operate daily flights to Cairo, while the remaining flights will serve regional and international destinations
such as Beirut, Riyadh, London, Istanbul, Manila, and several cities in India and Bangladesh.
Al-Shatti indicated that the selection of these destinations was based on operational feasibility studies and demand levels.
He also emphasized the company’s complete readiness to handle any field developments with high efficiency.
Safety standards and operating plan
For his part, Sheikh Hamoud Al-Sabah, Chairman of the Directorate General of Civil Aviation,
stated that the decision to reopen the airspace was the result of intensive coordination with relevant international bodies.
The goal was to ensure the resumption of air traffic in accordance with the highest safety and security standards.
Al-Sabah explained that the reopening would be implemented through a well-planned, phased approach, beginning with Terminals 4 and 5.
The plan aims to achieve full airport operation in the near future, while continuing rigorous technical and security assessments.
This is all to ensure the smooth flow of air traffic and the stability of operational processes.
Schedule details and flight schedules
The new schedule includes a precise distribution of flights; Beirut will operate twice weekly (Mondays and Wednesdays),
and Riyadh (Tuesdays and Fridays). Jeddah will have four flights, and London three weekly.
The list also includes flights to Manila, Dhaka, and Kochi
with varying operating frequencies, starting tomorrow, Sunday.
The statement confirmed that all other destinations are currently
subject to official approval procedures from the relevant authorities.
The national carrier emphasized its commitment to providing the highest
quality services to passengers following the period of forced suspension.
