Riyadh, Saudi Arabia – The Secretary-General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), Jasem Mohamed Al-Budaiwi, has affirmed that the Gulf organization follows a steadfast strategic policy centered on achieving development and prosperity while completely rejecting involvement in wars and armed conflicts. He clarified that the Council prioritizes enhancing regional and international stability through diplomatic solutions and constructive dialogue. Accordingly, the GCC’s role in promoting stability represents a fundamental pillar of Arab and international national security, reflecting the maturity of joint Gulf action and its ability to lead initiatives aimed at de-escalating global crises.
A Diplomatic Approach Based on Respect for Sovereignty and Peaceful Conflict Resolution
During his participation in the session “Middle East Post-Zero-Sum Politics” at the Antalya Diplomacy Forum, Al-Budaiwi explained that the GCC operates according to international law principles that respect state sovereignty and non-interference in internal affairs. Obviously, building trust with regional and international partners is the primary driver of Gulf diplomacy, which always seeks to prioritize logic and activate peaceful dispute settlement mechanisms. As a result, the Council states have become models for crisis management, transforming security challenges into opportunities for cooperation and economic integration.
Strategic Partnerships and the Palestinian Cause at the Heart of Council Interests
The Secretary-General noted that the Council has strengthened its position as a global link by establishing 28 strategic partnerships with major world powers and cooperating with eight leading regional organizations. Certainly, the Palestinian cause remains at the forefront of the Council’s agenda, with continued firm support for the two-state solution and the provision of urgent humanitarian aid. Accordingly, the GCC’s role in promoting stability remains linked to its ability to balance international interests and achieve internal Gulf integration that reflects positively on economic growth rates and the capacity to face current geopolitical challenges.
