Brussels, Belgium – Jordan emphasized the importance of supporting the Palestinian economy during its participation in the international aid coordination meeting held in Brussels, Belgium. It stressed that economic stability is a fundamental pillar for strengthening the resilience of the Palestinian people in the face of mounting challenges.

The Jordanian delegation explained that the financial pressures facing the Palestinian Authority, coupled with declining external aid flows, necessitate urgent international action to prevent further deterioration of the situation. This is particularly critical given the complex political and economic circumstances in the Palestinian territories.

The delegation indicated that support for vital sectors, such as health, education, and infrastructure, must be accompanied by efforts to empower the local economy and create job opportunities. Furthermore, it emphasized the need to enhance the sustainability of Palestinian institutions, rather than relying on temporary solutions.

The meeting, which included international donors and financial institutions, discussed mechanisms for coordinating and directing aid more efficiently. This aims to ensure a tangible impact on the ground and reduce challenges related to program duplication or weak coordination among donors.

Jordan also stressed the need to link economic support to the political process. It asserted that achieving lasting stability is inseparable from finding a just and comprehensive solution to the Palestinian issue. This solution guarantees the establishment of an independent Palestinian state.

Observers believe that the Jordanian position reflects a consistent approach based on supporting Palestine politically and economically. It also seeks to garner a more effective international stance, especially given the relative decline in global attention to some regional issues.

Ultimately, supporting the Palestinian economy remains a key element in maintaining balance in the region. The economic and political dimensions cannot be separated in a complex issue where regional and international considerations intertwine.
