Gaza – Operation “Chivalrous Knight 3”, in collaboration with international organizations and United Nations agencies, launched an environmental and public health initiative to combat rodents and pests across the Gaza Strip, aiming to mitigate sanitation hazards and reinforce public health protocols.
Field Campaigns Target High-Density Displacement Camps
The project focuses on deploying field campaigns across high-density displacement camps and residential zones, using safe pest control methods to restrict vector propagation and curb the transmission of infectious diseases.
Operation “Chivalrous Knight 3” is supplying all required equipment, materials, and logistical resources to ensure field teams can sustain operations across affected municipalities.
UN Partnership and Strategic Coordination
The initiative was formally announced during a joint press conference featuring representatives from the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA), UNICEF, the WASH Cluster, and local municipal leaders.
Suzanna Tkalec, Deputy Humanitarian Coordinator for the Occupied Palestinian Territory, commended the UAE’s sustained humanitarian efforts, characterizing Operation “Chivalrous Knight 3” as a key strategic partner in facilitating relief interventions and optimizing aid logistics.
Addressing Environmental Risks and Solid Waste Challenges
Yahya Al-Sarraj, Coordinator of the Union of Gaza Strip Municipalities, emphasized the urgency of the initiative in addressing severe environmental hazards triggered by accumulated solid waste and debris, which heighten infection risks among vulnerable demographics.
Al-Sarraj noted that systematic pest control directly improves sanitary conditions within shelter centers, reducing epidemic risks amid ongoing infrastructure challenges.
The project forms part of a broader humanitarian framework managed by Operation “Chivalrous Knight 3”, covering healthcare, water sanitation, shelter, and food security to support displaced populations in Gaza.
Operation “Chivalrous Knight 3’s” pest control initiative illustrates an integrated approach to public health in Gaza, leveraging UN partnerships to mitigate environmental hazards in displacement facilities.
