Beirut, Lebanon – The Israeli military confirmed it carried out attacks in southern Lebanon targeting Hezbollah operatives. It stated that they had violated the ceasefire understandings. These are the first such operations since the truce came into effect.

The military explained that its forces deployed south of the “yellow line” detected operatives approaching its positions from the north. It considered this a direct threat that necessitated an immediate response. It noted that these movements occurred despite the ceasefire agreement, prompting it to conduct specific military operations.

The military added that the air force, in cooperation with ground forces, carried out airstrikes targeting what it described as “terrorist” sites in several southern areas, with the aim of eliminating threats. It also confirmed artillery shelling in support of ground forces. It indicated that Hezbollah infrastructure was destroyed.

The Israeli military emphasized that its operations are conducted in accordance with the directives of the political leadership. It affirmed its authority to take necessary measures in self-defense. It also stated that its objective is to ensure the safety of civilians and its forces. Furthermore, it indicated that it continues to sweep the areas under its control to ensure they are free of any future threats.
