Moscow, Russia – The Russian Foreign Ministry asserted that certain actions taken by the United States are inconsistent with its stated aim of achieving peace in Ukraine. Moscow also maintained that the US position does not reflect a consistent approach to efforts to end the conflict.
The Russian Foreign Ministry stated that Moscow is closely monitoring US actions regarding the Ukrainian issue. It added that any serious path toward resolving the crisis requires practical steps that take into account Russia’s security interests. Furthermore, these actions must avoid escalation.
The ministry added that continued military support for Kyiv, coupled with actions and decisions that Moscow considers escalatory, raises questions about Washington’s seriousness in pushing for a political settlement to the war.
The ministry stressed that Russia remains ready to discuss ways to end the conflict. However, it links reaching a lasting settlement to addressing what it describes as the root causes of the conflict. Furthermore, it demands clear security guarantees.
The Russian statements come amid ongoing international contacts and efforts aimed at finding a negotiated solution to the war. However, disagreements persist regarding the terms of a settlement and the future of Western support for Ukraine.
