Washington, United States – The US military announced that it had successfully prevented six ships from leaving Iranian ports during the first 24 hours of imposing a naval blockade on Iran.
This move reflects a military escalation in the region. It follows the collapse of peace talks with Tehran.
large-scale military operation
The US Central Command explained that more than 10,000 troops, along with more
than ten warships and dozens of aircraft, are participating in the naval blockade.
It confirmed that this operation is part of imposing restrictions on maritime traffic to and from Iranian ports.
Commercial ships comply with the blockade
The US military statement indicated that six commercial vessels complied
with US forces’ instructions and returned to Iranian ports on the Gulf of Oman.
It confirmed that no ship was able to circumvent the blockade during its initial implementation.
Additionally, the statement added that the blockade applies to all vessels without discrimination, regardless of their nationality.
Discrepancies in field data
Conversely, maritime tracking data showed that at least two ships managed to leave Iranian ports and transit the Strait of Hormuz.
This indicates discrepancies in the data regarding the effectiveness of the blockade.
Moreover, this comes after Iran had effectively closed the strait following the outbreak of confrontations with the United States.
Before Washington officially announced the imposition of a naval blockade, diplomatic efforts had failed.
