Washington, DC – US Central Command (CENTCOM) confirmed that the naval blockade imposed on Iran continues “rigorously.”
It also indicated that US forces are continuing their military and surveillance operations in vital waterways,
with the aim of restricting the movement of supplies and activities
that Washington describes as threatening the security and stability of the region.
Imposing strict security measures
US Central Command (CENTCOM) explained that the US Navy, in coordination with its partners,
continues to monitor ship traffic and enforce heightened security measures in several strategic waterways,
including those near the Arabian Gulf and the Arabian Sea.
This is to ensure freedom of navigation and protect international trade routes.
CENTCOM added that these naval operations are part of a broader strategy
to pressure Iran and reduce its ability to move military equipment and supplies.
It affirmed the continued US military presence in the region
and the readiness of forces to respond to any developments on the ground.
Growing international concerns
This stance comes amid continued military tensions between the United States and Iran,
and escalating proxy conflicts in the region.
International concerns are also growing about the potential for the conflict to widen
and impact global maritime security and energy markets.
Washington continues to bolster its naval presence in strategic waterways.
It has affirmed that its operations will continue as long as security and military needs dictate,
in order to protect American interests and those of its allies in the Middle East.
