Tehran, Iran – Iran Fars News Agency reported that Tehran threatened to withdraw from the ceasefire agreement if attacks on Lebanon continue. It also hinted at escalating measures, including halting oil tankers transiting the Strait of Hormuz.
Threats to disrupt navigation
The agency reported that Iran might resort to blocking oil tanker traffic through the Strait of Hormuz in response to what it described as Israel’s violation of the ceasefire agreement. This would have serious repercussions for global energy supplies and international trade.
Linking the escalation to the situation in Lebanon
She explained that the Iranian position is directly linked to the continuation of military operations in Lebanon. She also indicated that any further escalation could push Tehran to take more drastic measures in the coming period.
American position on the agreement
Conversely, reports quoted US President Donald Trump as confirming that Hezbollah is not part of the ceasefire agreement. This raises questions about the scope and limitations of the agreement and further complicates the regional landscape given the divergent positions of the parties involved.
