Beirut, Lebanon – In another bloody day, the Lebanese capital Beirut and its suburbs experienced a tragic chapter of military escalation, as Israeli aircraft launched intense airstrikes targeting residential areas in the south and north, leaving a heavy toll of civilian casualties.
Tragedy in “Jnah”.. Children and Cross-Border Victims
The Lebanese National News Agency reported that an airstrike targeted the densely populated Jnah area in the southern suburbs, turning it into a scene of rubble and resulting in the death of 5 people, including a 15-year-old girl, and two Sudanese nationals who were present at the site. The strike also injured 52 others, including 8 children suffering varying injuries, reflecting the indiscriminate nature of shelling in residential areas.
Expanding Fire Zone.. Bloodshed in “Metn”
The airstrikes were not limited to the southern suburbs, but extended to the hills of Ain Saadeh in the Metn district north of the capital, where the Lebanese Ministry of Public Health announced the killing of 3 people, including two women, and the injury of 3 others with serious wounds, in a development reflecting the widening scope of targeting to include areas previously considered relatively safe.
The Blood Toll Since “Last March”
With this new escalation, the Lebanese Ministry of Public Health revealed shocking figures reflecting the scale of the humanitarian catastrophe; the total number of victims of the Israeli aggression since March 2 has risen to 1,461 dead and 4,430 injured, amid international warnings of a collapse of the health and service systems as the war machine continues.
