Amman, Jordan – The Jordanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs strongly condemned the attacks targeting the Embassy of the United Arab Emirates and the residence of its head of mission in the Syrian capital, Damascus.
It considered these acts a flagrant violation of international diplomatic norms and conventions,
and a threat to the security and safety of diplomatic missions.
The Jordanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs issued an official statement affirming the Kingdom’s categorical rejection of such attacks.
It also stressed the necessity of respecting the inviolability of diplomatic premises
and protecting them in accordance with the Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations.
The Convention obligates host countries to secure diplomatic missions and ensure the safety of their personnel.
Affirmation of solidarity with the UAE
The Jordanian government expressed its full solidarity with the United Arab Emirates in the face of these attacks.
It affirmed its support for all measures taken by the UAE to protect its diplomatic missions.
It also stressed the importance of concerted regional and international efforts to counter such acts that target stability.
Call to protect diplomatic missions
The Jordanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs called on the relevant authorities in Syria to take
all necessary measures to protect diplomatic missions on its territory.
It stressed the need to ensure that such incidents do not recur, in accordance with its international legal obligations,
and to safeguard the security and stability of diplomatic operations.
Warning of the repercussions of escalation
Amman warned of the dangers of such attacks continuing, given their negative repercussions on international relations and regional security in general.
It emphasized that targeting diplomatic missions constitutes an unacceptable escalation that could lead to further tension and instability.
The Jordanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs concluded its statement
by emphasizing the need to respect internationa law and work to strengthen diplomatic security.
This contributes to supporting regional stability and protecting the common interests of nations.
