Dublin, Ireland – The Irish Prime Minister affirmed today that US President Donald Trump’s threats to bomb Iran and return it to what he called the “Stone Age” are completely unacceptable, stressing that the use of such escalatory language threatens regional and international stability.

The Prime Minister explained that the international community cannot ignore statements that incite military confrontation. He also warned that any escalation could lead to catastrophic consequences for the Middle East and global energy markets. He added that Ireland supports diplomatic solutions and dialogue among all parties to avoid any armed conflict.

He emphasized that Iran, like any other country, must be treated with respect and in accordance with international law. He also stressed that any threat of the use of force could exacerbate the humanitarian and economic crises in the region.

He affirmed that the European Union and the international community are obligated to pressure all parties to de-escalate tensions. He also called for working towards resolving disputes through peaceful means, emphasizing the importance of diplomatic dialogue as a strategic option to avert any potential catastrophe.

In a related context, the Prime Minister highlighted the need for international cooperation to ensure the stability of shipping lanes and oil markets. He also noted that military escalation would directly affect the global economy and increase uncertainty in financial and energy markets.
