Kuwait – The Kuwaiti Ministry of Interior announced the thwarting of a dangerous terrorist plot and the arrest of a network that was planning to carry out assassinations targeting state symbols and leaders,

in addition to harming the country’s higher interests, after precise security monitoring

and follow-up operations carried out by the State Security Service.

Details of the terrorist network

Interior Ministry spokesman Brigadier General Nasser Bouslaib explained that security forces apprehended

a network comprised of five Kuwaiti citizens and one non-Kuwaiti whose citizenship had been revoked.

He added that 14 suspects were located at large outside the country, including individuals of various nationalities.

He indicated that the suspects were found to have ties to Hezbollah,

and that the network had planned assassinations and recruited new members to carry out terrorist attacks within Kuwait.

Confessions and external training

Bouslaib confirmed that the defendants admitted to joining the organization and spying for it,

and their readiness to carry out operations targeting the country’s leaders,

noting that they received advanced military training outside Kuwait

that included the use of weapons and explosives, surveillance methods and carrying out assassinations,

in what he described as a “grave betrayal” that threatens the country’s security.

Legal proceedings and prosecutions

The Ministry stated that the accused have been referred to the Public Prosecution for legal action,

while investigations continue to apprehend the remaining individuals involved both inside and outside the country.

It emphasized that Kuwait’s security and sovereignty are a red line,

and affirmed that the strictest measures will be taken against anyone proven

to be involved in terrorist acts or collaborating with extremist organizations.

Similar security precedents

The Ministry of Interior announced during March that it had thwarted several terrorist plots

linked to the same organization, targeting vital facilities in the country,

as part of ongoing security efforts to counter threats and protect internal stability.
