Riyadh, Saudi Arabia – The early hours of Saturday morning witnessed a dangerous military escalation, which the Royal Saudi Air Defense Forces countered with high efficiency. The Saudi Ministry of Defense announced the thwarting of a series of imminent attacks targeting vital and civilian areas across the Kingdom, including the Eastern and Central regions, Al-Kharj Governorate, and reaching the outskirts of the capital, Riyadh.

Eastern Province objections

In detailing the military operations, the Ministry of Defense announced early Saturday morning that its defense systems had successfully intercepted

and destroyed five explosive-laden drones targeting locations in the Eastern Province.

The Ministry, through its official spokesperson, Brigadier General Turki al-Maliki,

also confirmed the interception and destruction of another drone in the Empty Quarter.

The Ministry emphasized that the armed forces continue to monitor and neutralize any cross-border threats.

The toll of “Bloody Day”

Official data revealed the scale of the attack attempted by hostile entities.

The Ministry of Defense spokesperson announced the destruction of

a ballistic missile launched towards Al-Kharj Governorate (approximately 80 kilometers southeast of Riyadh).

A total of 65 drones were neutralized. The interceptions were distributed as follows:

28 drones were intercepted immediately upon entering the country’s airspace.

22 drones were destroyed over the Eastern Province.

7 drones were intercepted in the Eastern and Central Provinces.

6 drones targeted Al-Kharj Governorate and the Empty Quarter.

One drone was also shot down while attempting to approach the Diplomatic Quarter in Riyadh.

This demonstrates the accuracy of the defense systems in protecting sensitive areas.

Sirens in Al-Kharj

On the civilian front, the Saudi Civil Defense issued an urgent alert Friday evening in Al-Kharj Governorate,

warning of an imminent danger via the National Early Warning Platform for Emergencies.

The alert lasted for 14 minutes before the Civil Defense announced that the danger had been successfully averted.

Authorities urged citizens and residents to continue following Civil Defense instructions.

They also stressed the importance of avoiding gatherings at protest sites or attempting to take photographs,

and staying away from any locations that might contain shrapnel from demolition operations, to ensure everyone’s safety.

deterrent message

These successive successes underscore the readiness of the Saudi Armed Forces to protect economic and civilian infrastructure.

They also demonstrate their capability to handle simultaneous and complex attacks, which utilize both drone and ballistic missile technologies.

This sends a strong deterrent message to anyone attempting to target the security and stability of the Kingdom.
