Erbil, Kurdistan – Mazloum Abdi, the commander-in-chief of the Syrian Democratic Forces (QASED), arrived in Erbil, the capital of Iraqi Kurdistan, on Saturday, accompanied by US Special Envoy to Syria, Tom Barrack.
The visit comes amid intensive diplomatic efforts aimed at preventing
a full-blown conflict between the Syrian Interim Government forces and the QASED.
Abdi and Barak will hold a bilateral meeting expected to focus on ways to contain the current military tensions.
They will also work to ensure that clashes do not escalate in northern and eastern Syria.
This will contribute to maintaining stability and preventing the collapse of existing agreements on the ground.
