Islamabad, Pakistan- Three members of the Pakistani police force were killed on Tuesday in an armed attack targeting

their security patrol in the North Waziristan region of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province.

This is according to Pakistani media reports, This attack is part of

a series of operations that the region has been witnessing for months.

This comes amid escalating activity by armed groups there.

Reports indicate that the attack occurred in the Bannu area,

where unknown gunmen opened fire on police officers while they were performing their duties.

This resulted in the immediate death of three of them.

After carrying out the attack, the perpetrators stole

the police weapons before fleeing to an unknown location.

Security sources added that police and army forces rushed to the scene

and began a large-scale search operation for the perpetrators of the attack.

An official investigation has also been opened to uncover the circumstances

of the incident and identify the party responsible.

This is despite the fact that the region is witnessing activity by extremist elements

who have previously claimed responsibility for similar attacks.

From time to time, security forces and checkpoints are targeted.

Destabilization

the country by targeting police and military forces.

This comes at a time when the government is trying to strengthen

security measures and pursue active cells.

This attack underscores the ongoing security challenges facing Pakistan in its border regions.

This is despite the military campaigns it has carried out in recent years

to curb the activity of extremist groups.

The authorities are continuing their investigations, while stressing that the security forces

will continue their operations until the sources of the threat are eliminated.
