Tehran, Iran – An earthquake measuring 4.1 on the Richter scale struck the Shuysheh region of Kurdistan province in Iran on Thursday, November 20. The quake caused alarm among residents and prompted a swift response from rescue teams, although no casualties or damage were reported.

Payam Jalali, the director general of the Kurdistan Red Crescent Society, stated in a press release that the earthquake occurred at 2:24 PM at a depth of 10 kilometers. Its epicenter was located 11 kilometers from the town of Shuwaisha.

Jalali explained that two Red Crescent assessment teams were immediately dispatched to the earthquake site to evaluate the situation on the ground. The goal was to ensure the safety of the residents. He noted that “this immediate action was taken to ensure preparedness and assess any potential emergency needs.”

The official confirmed that relief forces were on high alert following the earthquake. They were prepared to send more equipment and personnel if needed. He also noted that the assessment teams’ report confirmed no casualties or material damage. This provided some reassurance to the residents after a period of anxiety.

It is worth noting that the region experiences intermittent seismic activity, making a rapid response a key element in dealing with such tremors.
