New Delhi, India – Indian Defence Minister Rajnath Singh urged the international community to intensify cooperation and joint action to transform the current era into one of peace and prosperity, rather than one of conflict and tension, during his participation in the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) Defence Ministers’ Meeting.
The Indian minister emphasized that achieving global stability requires collective responsibility from all nations, particularly in light of the growing challenges facing the international system. He also noted that the SCO member states represent a significant portion of the world’s population, giving them a crucial role in supporting international security and stability.
Singh stressed the importance of prioritizing dialogue and diplomacy in managing disputes, warning against the dangers of military escalation and emphasizing that building an international system based on respect for human beings and their dignity is the best way to achieve peaceful coexistence among nations.
He also noted that the decline in adherence to international rules and norms is one of the most prominent current challenges. This could lead to an increase in conflicts if not addressed through effective and comprehensive frameworks for cooperation.
The Indian Defense Minister called for prioritizing cooperation and humanitarian values over geopolitical competition, emphasizing that his country seeks to work with various international partners to build a more balanced and stable global environment in the coming period.
Observers believe these statements reflect a growing trend among Asian powers toward supporting international multilateralism. This comes amidst rapid geopolitical shifts and the pursuit of reshaping the global order to achieve greater stability and peace.
