  • Achieving security and development

Algeria – The tripartite mechanism meeting of Libya neighboring countries, hosted by Algeria, was held with the participation of Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdel-Aty,

his Algerian counterpart Ahmed Attaf, and Tunisian Mohamed Ali Nafti, to discuss the Libyan crisis.

During the meeting, Abdel-Aati reviewed the firm Egyptian position,

He stressed that a Libyan-Libyan political solution is the only way

to end the crisis and achieve security and stability in the country.

It must be under purely Libyan leadership and ownership,

under the auspices of the United Nations, without foreign interference.

Ending the division in Libya

The minister stressed Egypt’s commitment to supporting efforts to

unify Libya institutions and end the division.

He called for concerted efforts by Arab states, especially neighboring countries,

to implement the United Nations roadmap.

This includes forming a unified government to conduct simultaneous presidential

and legislative elections as soon as possible.

Achieving security and development

Abdel-Aati also stressed the need for all foreign forces and mercenaries

to leave Libya territory in compliance with Security Council resolutions.

He explained that Libya’s security is an integral part of Egyptian and Arab national security.

The Foreign Minister concluded by emphasizing the continued close coordination

and consultation between Egypt, Algeria, and Tunisia

within the framework of the tripartite mechanism.

This is to support our Libyan brothers in achieving security, development and prosperity.
