Washington, USA – US reports revealed that approximately 23,500 National Guard soldiers are currently undergoing intensive training in preparation for civil unrest control missions within American cities.

In a move that suggests US President Donald Trump’s administration is seeking to make the deployment of military forces in urban areas a permanent part of its security policy.

The Washington Post reported on Thursday that the drills focused on “internal security tasks, protecting vital facilities, and containing large-scale demonstrations.”

She noted that these measures come amid growing fears of potential political unrest in the coming period.

Especially with the escalating debate surrounding immigration, the economy, and race relations within the United States.

Observers believe the move represents an unprecedented shift in American homeland security doctrine.

Traditionally, the National Guard’s tasks were limited to responding to natural disasters and emergencies, and not directly participating in maintaining civil security.

Reports indicate that the US Department of Defense is working in coordination with the Department of Homeland Security and a number of major states,

To develop rapid deployment plans in the event of widespread protests or disturbances that threaten public safety,

This is a cause for concern for human rights groups, who have warned of the militarization of civilian life and the erosion of public freedoms.

The Trump administration faced widespread criticism during his first term in 2020.

When National Guard troops were deployed in Washington and other cities to contain anti-racism protests,

This was a move that the democratic opposition at the time described as a “threat to democracy.”

Observers assert that the current measures indicate early preparation by the Trump administration to deal with any emergency scenarios in 2026.

سواء كانت سياسية أو اجتماعية، في ظل أجواء من الاستقطاب الداخلي المتزايد.
