Cairo, Egypt – Even before the whistle blows for the decisive matches of the 2026 World Cup, the tournament has already made its mark on the entertainment landscape. It has prompted numerous stars and creators to reschedule concerts and events—and even postpone the release of new projects—to avoid clashing with the highly anticipated matches that command the attention of audiences worldwide.
Rashed Al-Majid postpones his concert in Rabat.
The organizers of Saudi artist Rashed Al-Majid’s concert in the Moroccan capital, Rabat, have announced the rescheduling of the event—originally set for Thursday, July 9—to Friday, July 10. Sherine Abdel Wahab postpones the release of her new song.
The impact of the World Cup was not limited to concerts; it extended to new artistic releases as well. Nasser Bagato, the manager of artist Sherine Abdel Wahab, revealed in televised statements that a new song was ready for release but that the decision was made to postpone it to a later date, as the audience was preoccupied with following the World Cup matches.
He explained that the song was scheduled for release last week, but the team preferred to postpone it to ensure it received sufficient attention, emphasizing that the current timing would not generate the necessary public momentum.
“Samson and Delilah” Reschedules Special Screening
The film season has also been affected by the World Cup atmosphere; the production company behind the movie *Samson and Delilah*—starring Ahmed El Awady and Mai Omar—decided to reschedule the film’s special screening. It will now take place next Wednesday at a Cairo cinema, rather than Tuesday, to avoid a clash with the Egypt vs. Argentina match in the World Cup Round of 16.
This shift underscores the significant impact the global championship has had on the landscape of artistic events, as organizers and producers strive to avoid scheduling conflicts with major matches that draw the attention of millions of viewers.
