Bucharest, Romania – The incident occurred shortly after 3 a.m. Thursday morning in the Romanian capital, Bucharest. A man attempted to drive his car into the gates of the Russian embassy, according to Digi24.

Investigating sources said the man is a 53-year-old dentist and is suspected of being under the influence of drugs. Police confirmed that drug tests at the scene revealed the presence of two prohibited substances in his system: benzodiazepine and amphetamine.

When the incident occurred, the security guard summoned the man and was able to stop him before he entered the embassy perimeter. This helped prevent any damage or threat to the security of the diplomatic facility.

After the alarm was raised, security teams and counterterrorism forces arrived to deal with the situation. The man attempted to flee but surrendered after emergency crews intercepted his vehicle.

Traffic police explained that the man’s driver’s license was suspended, and he was taken to the National Institute of Forensic Medicine to collect biological samples necessary for the investigation.

The gendarmerie statement confirmed that the embassy’s security was not threatened, and that there were no injuries or significant material damage.

The situation was quickly contained, and investigations are ongoing to uncover the man’s motives and confirm all details of the incident.
