Algeria – In a move that reflects the Algerian government’s determination to restore security and stability within cities, the Ministry of Interior and Local Authorities today announced a new package of strict security measures aimed at combating neighborhood gangs and curbing the spread of drugs.

The ministry affirmed that the plan comes in response to the directives of the senior leadership to firmly confront all forms of organized crime that threaten social peace.

Noting that security operations will include increased security deployment at sensitive locations and intensified field campaigns in neighborhoods considered hotbeds of gang activity.

The new measures also include activating coordination between various security agencies and employing modern technologies to track criminal networks.

In addition to launching awareness campaigns targeting young people to reduce the phenomenon of drug use and trafficking.

The Ministry of Interior stressed that the state will not tolerate anyone who threatens the safety of citizens or exploits working-class neighborhoods for illegal activities.

Stressing that “security is a collective responsibility, and some areas will not be allowed to turn into dens of crime.”
