Tel Aviv, Israel – Israel has insisted on maintaining its forces within what it calls the “security zone” in southern Lebanon. This comes amid growing speculation about potential US pressure to reduce military operations as part of ongoing understandings between Washington and Tehran.

Israel publishes map of “security zone”

The Israeli army published a map of the area where its forces are deployed inside southern Lebanon.

It clarified that the area of operations extends nearly 10 kilometers into Lebanese territory and includes dozens of towns in the south.

The army confirmed that its forces are continuing their military operations

to eliminate what it describes as security threats and enhance the protection of northern Israel.

At the same time, it continues to prevent a number of Lebanese residents from returning to their homes.

The map’s publication coincided with Israeli reports of increasing American pressure

on Benjamin Netanyahu’s government to show greater flexibility on the Lebanese front.

This comes particularly as understandings between the United States and Iran appear to be nearing completion.

The Israeli army warns of a complicated situation on the ground

Israeli media reports indicated that Washington is pushing to reduce military operations

and withdraw from some points controlled by Israel in southern Lebanon.

This is part of its efforts to avoid any escalation that might affect the course of the agreement with Tehran.

On the other hand, Israeli reports spoke of a state of anxiety within the military establishment due to the absence of a clear vision

for the future of the military presence in southern Lebanon. It also indicated increasing friction between Israeli forces and local residents.

This comes at a time when the Lebanese-Israeli border is witnessing constant tension.

There is also anticipation about the potential impact of the US-Iranian agreement on the security and political scene in the region.
