Joint Iraqi – Lebanese strike.. Dismantling the largest Captagon factory in the Middle East

Baghdad, Iraq – The Iraqi Ministry of Interior announced the discovery and dismantling of one of the largest factories manufacturing the narcotic substance Captagon in the Middle East.

The ministry said in a statement: “The close security and intelligence cooperation between the Iraqi Ministry of Interior, the General Directorate of Narcotics Affairs, and the General Directorate of State Security in Lebanon resulted in a qualitative achievement. This achievement is represented by the discovery and dismantling of one of the largest Captagon manufacturing factories. It is located in the Lebanese Bekaa region.”

The statement added: “This achievement came against the backdrop of accurate information. This information was provided by the Iraqi agencies to their Lebanese counterparts”.

This enabled the Lebanese army in mid-July to carry out a large-scale operation. The operation resulted in the seizure of the factory. It also led to the thwarting of huge quantities of narcotic substances intended for manufacturing and promotion.

Sources described this strike as the strongest against Captagon networks in the Middle East.

The General Directorate of State Security in Lebanon confirmed that this intelligence cooperation reflects the strength of the relationship between the two countries.

She stressed that it embodies Iraq’s pioneering role in confronting cross-border threats. These include the drug scourge, which is considered the greatest danger.
