Riyadh, Saudi Arabia – Saudi Arabian cinemas are preparing to screen the biopic “Michael” on April 22, 2026, following its premiere in Berlin on April 10. This release precedes its US premiere on April 24, giving Middle Eastern audiences an early opportunity to see the film.
Jafar Jackson in his first film role
Jaafar had begun his artistic career at the age of twelve, stressing that the family connection did not make the task easier, but rather increased the responsibility to present a realistic image of the late star. الراحل
Production crises and costly adjustments
Despite its massive $155 million budget, the film faced legal challenges that forced its creators to reshoot the ending in June 2025. Director Antoine Fuqua cut scenes dealing with the legal issues surrounding Michael Jackson due to confidentiality clauses stemming from a 1993 settlement, adding approximately $15 million to the production cost.
Objections from the family
These changes angered Paris Jackson, the late artist’s daughter, who considered the script “fanciful and far removed from reality.” She also contradicted actor Colman Domingo’s statements regarding her approval of the project, further fueling the controversy surrounding the accuracy of the events presented in the film.
