Tel Aviv, Israel – In a surprise medical disclosure, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu revealed details of his health condition on Saturday, announcing that he had undergone successful treatment for an early-stage cancerous tumor.
The announcement came in a lengthy post on the X platform (formerly Twitter). In the post, he explained the reasons that led him to request a two-month postponement of the publication of his annual medical report.
Postponing publication to counter “Iranian propaganda”
Netanyahu confirmed that he had asked the relevant authorities to postpone the release of the medical results so as not to coincide with the peak of the ongoing military operations. He said, “I asked for a two-month delay in its publication so as not to allow the Iranian terrorist regime to spread further false propaganda against Israel.”
He reassured the public about his current condition, saying, “Thank God, I am in good health and excellent physical condition.”
Diagnosis and treatment details
The Israeli Prime Minister revealed his treatment journey with his prostate gland, explaining that he underwent surgery a year and a half ago to remove a benign tumor. However, recent routine checkups revealed “a small spot, no more than one centimeter in size.” He added, “After examination, it turned out to be a malignant tumor in its very early stages, without any spread or metastases.” Netanyahu indicated that doctors presented him with two options: either to continue with regular follow-up or to undergo definitive treatment.
In his characteristic style of linking the personal and the political, he said, “You know me well; when I receive information about a potential danger, I want to address it immediately, and this applies to both the national and personal levels.”
Treatment journey at Hadassah
Netanyahu announced the success of the treatment he received at Hadassah Hospital in Jerusalem, describing it as “precise” and completely eliminating the problem without leaving any trace.
He described the experience, saying, “I attended short treatment sessions, continued my work, and thank God, the spot disappeared completely.” Netanyahu concluded his post with a message to Israelis on Saturday evening, urging them to prioritize early screenings and adhere to doctors’ instructions. He also thanked the medical staff who oversaw his case and concluded by praying for the speedy recovery of the injured.
It is worth noting that this announcement comes at a sensitive time for Israel, both domestically and internationally. Therefore, the timing of the medical disclosure lends a strong political dimension to the news.
