Budapest, Hungary – The International Judo Federation announced the opening of registration on its official website to participate in the Abu Dhabi Grand Slam Championship 2026. Organized by the Emirates Judo Federation, from October 29 to 31.
The teams of 3 countries applied to participate in the new edition of the tournament. Paraguay, Togo, and Uganda are in the first hours of launching the registration process through the international website.
The International Federation website revealed the participation of Paraguayan champion Gabriela Narvaez, 31 years old, in the Abu Dhabi Championship, noting her great results globally. By finishing seventh at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, and winning gold at the Dakar 2023 African Open. Then gold at the African Open, Luanda 2024.
Mohammed bin Thaaloub Al Deri, President of the Emirates Judo Federation and Chairman of the Supreme Organizing Committee, welcomed the keenness of world champions and heroines to participate in the tournament from friendly and sister countries. Emphasizing that all measures will be taken to support the success of the global event, similar to previous editions in Abu Dhabi. Thanks to modern infrastructure, advanced facilities, and the accumulated experience of administrative cadres.
He pointed out that the tournament is a new stop for the UAE national team to increase Olympic qualifying points, after the remarkable results in previous international participations. Explaining that the team will begin the next preparation phase in Kazakhstan at the end of this week, after the previous phase in Georgia. Until participating in the Swiss Grand Slam Championship during the last week of August.
