Abu Dhabi, UAE – President Mohammed bin Ahmed Al Yamahi stressed that the recurrence of Iranian attacks on a number of Arab countries represents a dangerous escalation
that undermines the chances of achieving security and stability in the region.
He also stressed that these practices constitute a clear violation of international law,
the United Nations Charter, and the principles of good neighbourliness.
Condemnation of Iranian escalation
In his address to the 39th session of the Arab Inter-Parliamentary Union Conference, Al-Yamahi explained
that the continuation of these attacks reflects an aggressive approach that threatens Arab national security.
Furthermore, it negatively impacts the stability of Arab states and their people.
The President of the Arab Parliament emphasized that the security of Arab states is indivisible and inseparable.
Moreover, any infringement upon the security of an Arab state constitutes a direct threat to collective Arab security.
He called for support for Arab states in taking the necessary measures to protect their sovereignty and security.
Support for protecting Arab sovereignty
The President of the Arab Parliament stressed the need to stand with Arab states in confronting external threats.
He also affirmed that Arab parliamentary institutions bear the responsibility of
supporting efforts aimed at strengthening security and stability in the region.
He pointed to the importance of enhancing joint Arab coordination to address escalating security challenges.
This ensures the protection of Arab interests and safeguards the sovereignty of states from any aggression or external interference.
Emphasis on the Palestinian cause
Al-Yamahi pointed out that the security challenges facing the region should not distract from the Palestinian cause.
He stressed the necessity of continued Arab and international support
for the Palestinian people, particularly in the Gaza Strip, the West Bank, and occupied Jerusalem.
He called for a firm international stance to put an end to the ongoing violations against Palestinians.
Furthermore, he emphasized the importance of ensuring the protection of
their legitimate rights in accordance with international law and UN resolutions.
