Dubai, UAE – Dubai Police General Command has become the first police force in the Middle East and North Africa region, and the second globally after Norway, to join the European Barnahus Network, which specializes in child protection.
This step reflects the development of the child protection system in the emirate and its adoption of advanced international standards in this field.
International achievement in child protection
This inclusion came through the Child and Women Protection Department within the General Directorate of Human Rights,
in recognition of its efforts in the “Child Oasis” project, which provides a safe and child-friendly environment.
This environment aligns with the latest international standards in criminal investigations involving child victims of violence and abuse.
The project aims to support investigation pathways and psychological and social rehabilitation.
It also works to provide comprehensive, multidisciplinary care for affected children,
thereby ensuring the protection of their rights and minimizing the psychological impact of legal proceedings.
The internationally accredited “Children’s Oasis” model
Dubai Police confirmed that the “Child Oasis” project represents an advanced model for handling children’s issues,
integrating protection, care, and investigation within a single environment that considers psychological, social, and legal aspects.
Officials from the department indicated that joining the European Barnahus Network reflects international
confidence in the efficiency of the security and humanitarian system implemented by Dubai Police.
Furthermore, it opens up broad horizons for cooperation and the exchange of expertise with global institutions.
International cooperation and continuous development
The project organizers explained that network membership will provide extensive opportunities for specialized training and exposure to international best practices in child protection. This will contribute to developing policies and procedures and enhancing the quality of services provided.
Dubai Police affirmed that child protection is a national and societal priority. They also emphasized their ongoing efforts to solidify their position as a global leader in this field. This is achieved through the development of preventative and remedial tools and programs that ensure the highest levels of care for children and guarantee their safety and rights.
