Abu Dhabi, UAE – In a qualitative step that embodies Abu Dhabi’s leadership in harnessing advanced technologies and artificial intelligence to redraw the features of the future of health and surgical care at the global level. The Department of Health – Abu Dhabi, in partnership with Johnson & Johnson, launched the first smart surgical network of its kind in the world supported by artificial intelligence.

The initiative is based on an integrated digital health infrastructure developed by Abu Dhabi. With the aim of connecting operating rooms within a unified smart system based on real-time clinical data and insights. Which enhances the accuracy and efficiency of surgical operations, supports clinical decision-making, and improves patients’ experience and health outcomes. In addition to consolidating Abu Dhabi’s position as a global center for developing and applying surgical artificial intelligence solutions on a large scale.

Instant access for medical teams

The network is based on Johnson & Johnson’s open digital Polyphonic™ system, in collaboration with existing technology partners. Among them are Amazon Web Services, NVIDIA, and Core42, which contribute to building an intelligent and interconnected surgical environment that enables instant data analysis. It promotes the exchange of knowledge and experiences, and supports the development of a renewed health model that learns and develops continuously with each surgical procedure.

The network will connect operating rooms at Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi, PureHealth and Mediclinic Group, and NMC Healthcare. Giving medical teams real-time access to advanced analytics and accurate clinical insights that support surgeons while providing care. It contributes to enhancing the quality of surgical procedures, accelerating joint learning, raising the efficiency of clinical performance, and driving continuous innovation across various health institutions.

Improving the surgical experience

For patients, this initiative makes it possible to perform more precise surgeries, enhance consistency of standards of care, and improve the overall surgical experience. It provides doctors with smarter tools to support decision-making, and broader opportunities for learning and continuing professional development. This enhances the efficiency of the healthcare system and consolidates Abu Dhabi’s position at the forefront of global medical innovation.
