Kuwait – The Kuwaiti Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed the State of Kuwait’s strong condemnation and denunciation of the attack targeting an electrical generator outside the inner perimeter of the Barakah Nuclear Power Plant in the Al Dhafra region of the Emirate of Abu Dhabi, using a drone. It affirmed that this act constitutes a blatant violation of the sovereignty of the United Arab Emirates and a serious threat to the security and stability of the region.
Violation of international law and a threat to regional security
The Kuwaiti Ministry of Foreign Affairs affirmed that targeting peaceful nuclear facilities constitutes a clear violation of international law, international humanitarian law, and the UN Charter. This is due to the grave risks it poses to civilian safety, the environment, and regional and international security. Therefore, the Ministry stressed that targeting vital and civilian sites is unacceptable and condemned by all legal and ethical standards.
Serious risks to civilians and the environment
The Kuwaiti Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated that such attacks represent a dangerous escalation that threatens regional stability, especially given the sensitivity of peaceful nuclear facilities. Targeting them could also have widespread environmental and humanitarian repercussions. Therefore, it called for respect for the rules of international law and for avoiding attacks on civilian infrastructure.
Kuwait expresses full solidarity with the United Arab Emirates
The Kuwaiti Ministry of Foreign Affairs reiterated Kuwait’s full solidarity with the sisterly United Arab Emirates, affirming its support for all measures taken to protect its security and stability, and to safeguard its sovereignty and territorial integrity. This comes within the framework of the close fraternal relations that bind the two countries and their brotherly peoples.
