Abu Dhabi, UAE – UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky discussed various avenues of cooperation and joint work between their two countries during a telephone call.
The conversation focused particularly on economic and developmental fields,
and explored ways to enhance the comprehensive economic partnership to serve the mutual interests of both nations.
Economic cooperation and comprehensive partnership
During the call, both sides affirmed their commitment to developing bilateral relations
within the framework of the comprehensive economic partnership between the UAE and Ukraine.
This partnership supports opportunities for development and prosperity and enhances prospects for cooperation in various vital sectors.
The call also addressed the importance of continuing joint coordination in economic and investment fields,
particularly in light of the challenges and changes facing the global economy.
Mohammed bin Zayed and Zelensky reviewed developments in the Middle East region
and their serious repercussions for regional and international peace and security.
They also discussed the impact of these developments on international maritime security, energy supplies, and the global economy.
Praise for the UAE’s mediation efforts
The Ukrainian president reiterated his country’s condemnation of the Iranian attacks targeting civilians, facilities, and civilian infrastructure in the UAE.
He emphasized that these attacks constitute a violation of the UAE’s sovereignty and international law,
and pose a threat to regional and international security and stability.
Zelensky expressed his gratitude to Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan for the UAE’s humanitarian efforts
in mediating between Ukraine and Russia, particularly regarding prisoner exchanges.
The Ukrainian president stressed the importance of these humanitarian endeavors and their continued success.
He commended the UAE’s role in supporting diplomatic solutions
and mitigating the humanitarian consequences of the crisis between Moscow and Kyiv.
