Cairo, Egypt – Ahmed Aboul Gheit, Secretary-General of the League of Arab States, strongly condemned what he described as Iranian attacks targeting the territories of the United Arab Emirates, Kuwait, and the territorial waters of Qatar. He affirmed that these actions constitute a flagrant violation of international law and a serious threat to the security and stability of the region.
In an official statement, Aboul Gheit reiterated the Arab League’s complete rejection of this unjustified escalation. He also warned that the continuation of such actions could undermine diplomatic efforts aimed at ending tensions and conflicts peacefully.
Solidarity with Bahrain
Aboul Gheit expressed full solidarity with the Kingdom of Bahrain in the face of what he described as subversive plots targeting its security and stability. This came after Bahraini authorities announced the arrest of 41 individuals with alleged ties to foreign entities suspected of attempting to undermine internal security.
He emphasized the importance of supporting fellow Arab states in confronting any threats to their sovereignty or internal stability.
Warning and call for calm
Aboul Gheit warned that persisting in such aggressive actions could plunge the region into further chaos and instability. He called for restraint and prioritizing political and diplomatic solutions.
At the same time, he affirmed the Arab League’s solidarity with the affected Gulf states. He also reiterated its full support for the measures they are taking to protect their security and safeguard their sovereignty over their territories and territorial waters.
The statement comes amid escalating regional tensions and growing calls to contain the crisis and prevent further escalation. This aims to preserve the security and stability of the Arab and Gulf region.
