Seattle, USA – Mohamed Abou El-Ela, the Egyptian national team doctor, has clarified the status of the injured trio Mohamed Salah, Mohamed Abdel Moneim, and Ahmed Fatouh, ahead of the anticipated match against Australia in the round of 32 of the 2026 World Cup. He also revealed details of the injuries they sustained during the match against Iran.
Abu El-Ela explained in statements to the official website of the Egyptian Football Association that medical tests confirmed Mohamed Salah suffered a hamstring strain after experiencing pain during the match against Iran. He indicated that the national team captain has already begun his treatment and rehabilitation program.
He added that Ahmed Fatouh is suffering from a hamstring tear. For this reason, his chances of playing against Australia are extremely slim. Consequently, he is the most likely player to miss the Pharaohs’ next match.
Meanwhile, the national team doctor confirmed that Mohamed Abdel Moneim suffered a severe ankle sprain during the last match. However, the medical staff is working to get him ready, hoping he will be available for the match against Australia.
Egypt will face Australia in the round of 32. This comes amidst intensive efforts by the medical staff to prepare the key players before the anticipated match.
