Abu Dhabi, UAE – Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Vice President of the UAE, Deputy Prime Minister and Chief of the Presidential Court, issued a decision regarding the formation of the “National Committee for Documenting Acts of Aggression, International Crimes and the Damages Resulting Therefrom,” chaired by the Attorney General of the State, in a step aimed at strengthening the legal and documentary path for dealing with violations and crimes related to acts of aggression.
According to the Emirates News Agency (WAM), the committee is responsible for enumerating and documenting the various damages, losses and violations resulting from acts of aggression, in addition to collecting evidence, data and information related to international crimes, including human, material, economic and environmental damages.
The agency affirmed that the results of the committee’s work will contribute to supporting the UAE’s legal efforts at the national and international levels, through the preparation of a comprehensive documentation file based on documented evidence in accordance with internationally recognized standards, which supports legal accountability procedures before the competent authorities.
The formation of the committee comes within the framework of the UAE’s keenness to consolidate the principles of justice and the rule of law, and to strengthen the institutional mechanisms concerned with documenting international violations and crimes, in order to ensure the preservation of rights and the presentation of legal evidence in an accurate and organized manner.
The committee is expected to work in coordination with judicial and security authorities and relevant institutions within the country, in addition to utilizing international standards for documentation and legal monitoring, to ensure the preparation of reliable files that can be relied upon in any future legal actions or procedures.
