New Delhi, India – Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi strongly condemned the attacks targeting civilian facilities in the United Arab Emirates. He described the targeting of innocent civilians and vital infrastructure as “unacceptable” and a violation of international norms.

This came in a tweet Modi posted on the X platform, following reports confirming that three Indian nationals were injured in the attacks.

Indian solidarity and calls for calm

In his remarks, Modi affirmed that India stands “firmly and in solidarity” with the UAE at this critical time.

He emphasized his country’s unwavering support for peaceful solutions. He also called for addressing all regional issues through dialogue and diplomacy, avoiding military escalation that threatens the region’s security.

For its part, the Indian Ministry of External Affairs issued an official statement describing the attack targeting the Fujairah region as an “irresponsible act” and a flagrant violation of international law.

The ministry indicated that it is closely monitoring the health of the injured Indian citizens. It affirmed that the safety of the Indian community abroad remains a top priority for the government.

Energy security and international navigation

In a related context, the Indian Prime Minister highlighted the strategic importance of the Gulf region, noting that ensuring safe and stable navigation through the Strait of Hormuz is a cornerstone not only for achieving lasting regional peace but also for guaranteeing global energy security.

He explained that any threat to this vital waterway would negatively impact international economic stability. Therefore, it requires concerted global efforts to protect it.

This strong Indian condemnation underscores the depth of the strategic relationship between New Delhi and Abu Dhabi and India’s commitment to playing a balanced role in promoting security and stability in the Middle East. The region is home to millions of Indian expatriates and is a major source of India’s energy needs. In closing, the Indian government reiterated its commitment to cooperating with the international community in combating terrorism in all its forms and manifestations.
