Shanghai, China – Adrian Otaygui, representative of the UAE, achieved the best result for UAE Golf in the DB World Tour. He came in second place in the Volvo China Open, which concluded on Sunday in Shanghai. Austrian Bernd Vesberger won the title.
Thanks to this result, Otaygui scored 389 points, advancing 20 places to 13th place in the “Race to Dubai” standings, with a total of 816 points, according to the classification issued on Monday.
Otaygui continues to perform at outstanding levels during the current season. After winning third place in the Henan Chinese Championship, and sixth place in the Johannesburg Open Championship, in addition to other advanced results.
In late 2024, the Emirates Golf Federation announced the selection of Otaygui to represent the country as a professional player in various world tours. He has lived in the UAE for 13 years and has been appointed as the federation’s ambassador and a member of the national team. In addition to his contribution to supporting training and technical preparation programs, and his participation in the Emirates Golf Program for People with Disabilities. Which was launched during one of the DB World Tour tournaments in November 2021.
On the other hand, Vesberger advanced to 16th place in the “Race to Dubai” standings with 789 points after winning the title.
The Volvo China Open is the fourth stop in the Asian Series this season on the DB World Tour. It also represents the 16th championship in the season’s calendar, which witnesses the organization of at least 42 championships in 25 countries around the world as part of the “Race to Dubai”.
The season’s competitions conclude in the UAE, where the top 70 players qualify for the Abu Dhabi Yas Links Championship, which will take place from November 5 to 8, 2026. Then the top 50 players to the finals of the DB World Tour at Jumeirah Real Estate Golf Club during the period from November 12 to 15, 2026.
