Dubai, UAE – The Emirates Boxing Federation announced the participation of the UAE national team in the Asian Boxing Championship for juniors under 15 and 17 years of age. Hosted by the Uzbek capital, Tashkent, from May 1 to 16.
The national team list includes 5 boxers, Kian Iqbal (born 2013), in the under-15 category, weighing 33 kg. Maid Alimahi (born 2013) is in the under-15 category, weighing 40 kg. Mohamed Habib (born 2013) is in the under-15 category, weighing 36 kg. Marwan Al-Shaibani (born 2011) is in the under-17 category, weighing 48 kg. Fares Sobre (born 2011) in the under-17 category, weighing 80 kg.
Mohamed Musabah Al-Shibli, the national team’s technical director, confirmed that participation in this tournament comes within the federation’s strategy aimed at preparing a generation of talented players and giving them international experience. Enhancing their competitive capabilities in advanced positions and ascending to the podiums, which contributes to developing their levels in the long term.
He said that the group of players is very distinguished, they have a good level and clear ambition, and our goal in this tournament is to achieve a medal, and we hope to succeed in that.
He explained that the team will begin an internal preparatory camp on Friday, which will continue until the travel date to Tashkent on April 30.
